FORT KING STUDENTS SERVICES MISSION STATEMENT

The purpose of the Fort King Student Services Department is to partner with the stakeholders of the school to help children express their creativity and succeses, academically and socially, in a manner that will enhance our community. Fort King Student Services is committed to maintaining a high standard of student expectations while respecting the inpidual needs of our students, faculty, and staff. We also strive to create a safe and nurturing environment for the development of all students' social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development.

ENRICHMENT

Teachers utilize differentiated teaching strategies to provide enrichment opportunities for their students within the confines of their classroom. Additionally, students who are proficient in reading and do not need to be placed in an intensive reading class have the opportunity to participate in physical education and/or enrichment opportunities which include: business education, health occupations, art, agriculture, and band.

SUPPLEMENTAL AND INTENSIVE INSTRUCTION/INTERVENTIONS

At Fort King Middle School, all students scoring a level 1 or 2 on the FSA reading test in 2018 are receiving intensive instruction, as required by the State, in addition to their language arts class. Additionally, those students who do not have a 2018 FSA score are assessed to determine whether or not they would benefit from the intensive reading classes. If their scores indicate a need for the program, we are serving them as well. The intensive reading classes are designed to address, in a smaller group setting, the students' inpidual remedial needs while their on-grade level needs are being addressed in their language arts class.

Students who scored a level 1 or a low level 2 on the FSA math test in 2018 are served in an intensive math class in addition to their regular grade level math class. This class is designed to address, in a smaller group setting, the students' inpidual remedial needs while also providing on-grade level instruction in math.
